TAKE A BREATH

During this time of global uncertainty, I find that it’s helpful to monitor my stress levels. Breathing is one focus of attention.  It is an essential part of being alive.  We breathe in oxygen and let go of carbon dioxide.  When we exhale, we help to maintain pH levels in the blood.  When we breathe deeply and rhythmically, we engage the parasympathetic nervous system to relax the sympathetic nervous system, thereby reducing stress, lowering blood

pressure and the heartbeat.  Proper breathing can enhance the immune system by increasing oxygenation and improving mental health (Google, 2024).

My favorite technique works like this:

    Breathe in for 4 counts

    Hold for 4 counts.

    Exhale for 8 counts.

You can reduce the exhale count to 6 if this feels more comfortable.

Repeat this pattern, starting by creating a block of time, say 2 minutes. (Adjust this

for your ease of beginning a new pattern.)

Two minutes.    4. 4. 8            Do this 2-3 times each day.

Three minutes. 4.4. 8            Do this 2-3 times each day.

Four minutes.   4. 4. 8           Do this 2-3 times each day.

You are creating a pattern, a block of time, a habit of breathing, which enhances your

mental and physical health.  I started this at the beginning of 2024, and it is my go-to

breathing posture, as I work, walk, drive, live.  When I am tense, I remind myself to breathe

4.4.8.

I’m excited to tell you that I will be hosting a weekly internet radio show on TalkRadioNYC,

which will debut on Wednesday, October 23 at 12 Noon.  The show is called:

“The A Train to Sedona,” after my book of the same name.  (If you wish to purchase the

book,  click:  TheATrainBook.com.

Show description:

When we are loving and compassionate, I believe we are spiritual.  As we embrace our spirituality our perspective is expanded.  We discover more possibilities, and are open to

practices and ideas, which strengthen our mind, body, spirit health and wisdom.

On the radio show, I plan to interview guests who will highlight these practices and ideas:

Healthy lifestyle (the body houses the spirit), Breathing Techniques, Multidimensionality

(looking beyond the third dimension), Meditative Process, Use of Energy, The Universe,

  Clairvoyance, Visualization and more.

When I have a link, I’ll share it with you!  In the meantime:

Peace, Light & Love,

Linda
