A CHANGE IN PERSPECTIVE

Life is full of beauty and blessings. Among them are green plants, which grace my home, the view from my beautiful windows (without blinds or curtains), and the ability to shift the colors of possibility.
The first perspective change involves my philodendron. Its leaves curled up unhappily on my window sill. Once I removed the plant from the ledge, two, awesome church steeples jumped out at me. Crowned trees, now orange and red, danced in the wind while Downtown Brooklyn rested in the distance. My view is a breathtaking landscape that awaits my gaze each time a have a moment. For over 2 ½ years this plant sat – partially obscuring this natural wonder. I can see clearly now, the plant is gone.
My second shift is more involved. For almost a year I hosted a podcast “The A Train to Sedona” (whose title is the same as my memoir that was published in 2023) on TalkRadio.NYC, a wonderful, family-type, internet show. This was an effort to promote my beloved tome. There was so much to learn as I interviewed experts who shared their impassioned work. We embraced the energy of love and compassion and spirituality.
Of course, there are many responsibilities associated with producing a broadcast. My schedule became frenetic as I juggled my private coaching practice and family pursuits. A change in perspective had me realize I needed more time for myself. My last show aired October 15: I grieved the loss of so much excitement and involvement. Yet, I’ve become more relaxed. My day flows with client work, reading, writing (this blog), exercising – all at a desirable pace. I volunteered at a local soup kitchen, something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
In general, this change allows me to create the life I want to better reflect who I am. This reminds me of the process of forgiveness. When I forgive someone (a practice that can take time), I change my attitude from anger/resentment to love: my energy gets lighter and brighter; when I view someone as full person rather than judge them for a perceived frailty, I change perspective and energy.
Having time to dream, rest, read and feel allowed me the space to shift my perspectives going forward. I need space, time and self-reflection to create the possibility for this change, which reminds me of a blog I wrote about growth from the primitive brain to an evolved brain. See my blogpost:

A view of the bigger picture is a prize worthy of our attention. Changing the location of a plant is a simple shift while resigning from TalkRadio.NYC a dramatic one. Both rest upon a reflection of what I want to invite into my life: a magnificent view, and secondly, the recapture of my sense of peace in a hectic world.

Peace, Light & Love,
-Linda
